K-Drama Hometown ChaChaCha Filming Locations

Sharing is caring!

I’m hooked with the new K-drama Hometown Chachacha and I ended up looking for its filming locations which I know everyone will like.

The new K-drama of Kim Seon Ho (actor from Start-Up) and Shin Min-a (from My Girlfriend is a Gumiho) ‘Hometown Chachacha’ is the new talk of the town and it’s really a good watch especially this pandemic where everyone hasn’t been to see the beach.

The setting of the drama is in a small village called Gongjin but this village is actually a fictional place. The real locations of the drama are filmed in some places in Pohang which is part of North Gyeongsang and not Gangwon-do which is mentioned in the drama.

The drama is a weekend tvN series that started to air last August 28, 2021, at 9:00 pm Korean time. This drama is actually a remake of the movie, Mr. Hong.  The drama is about a Seoulite dentist named Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) who ended up putting her own clinic at Gongjin after her life goes awry. While Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon Ho) is known as Chief Hong. He used to help everyone in the village here and there. The drama is airing its third episode this weekend and the drama hasn’t shown the second lead character of Ji Seong-hyun (Lee Sang-yi), who is a star variety show production director.

That’s all for the story about the drama so I won’t spoil you if you haven’t seen it. Let’s go back to the main topic of this article which is sharing with you some of the filming locations of this drama Hometown Chachacha.

K-Drama Hometown ChaChaCha Filming Locations

Wolpo Beach [์›”ํฌํ•ด์ˆ˜์š•์žฅ]

The scene where Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon ho)  was surfing while Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) arrived at the beach wearing her expensive shoes where she lost the other pair was filmed in Pohang Wolpo Beach.

Wolpo Beach has a length of 900 meters, a width of 70 meters, and a total area of 107,786 square meters where it can accommodate about 50,000 tourists per day. The water at Wolpo Beach is warm and cold, clean and shallow.

Address: 60, Haean-ro 2308beon-gil, Cheongha-myeon, Buk-gu Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
How to get here: Take the KTX at Seoul Station and take off at Pohang Station. (Train 2 hours and 16 minutes) Check Kakaomap for detailed directions.

Cheongjin 3-ri Community Welfare Center
[์ฒญ์ง„3๋ฆฌ ์–ด๋ฏผ๋ณต์ง€ํšŒ๊ด€]

In the K-drama, the Yoon Dental Clinic [์œค์น˜๊ณผ] of Yoon Hye-jin is actually the Cheongjin 3-ri Community Welfare Center at Pohang. This place provides general welfare services to the people living in a village.

Address: 1884-2, Haean-ro, Cheongha-myeon, Buk-gu Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
How to get here: You may check Kakaomap for detailed directions on how to get there.

Sabang Memorial Park- Mugeunbong Peak
[์‚ฌ๋ฐฉ๊ธฐ๋…๊ณต์› – ๋ชฉ์€๋ด‰]

The ship at the top of the hill in episode 1 is can be seen at Pohang Sabang Memorial Park – Mugeunbong Peak. The park was opened in 2007 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the modern erosion control project in Korea. The project was about the prevention of natural disasters in Korea and they started planting trees and raising river banks during the reign of President Park Chung-hee.

Address: Mugeunbong Peak 8 Mt., Odo-ri Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
How to get here: You may check Kakaomap for detailed directions on how to get there.

Chungha Market Coffee Shop
[ํ•œ๋‚ฎ์— ์ปคํ”ผ ๋‹ฌ๋ฐค์— ๋งฅ์ฃผ]

ํ•œ๋‚ฎ์— ์ปคํ”ผ ๋‹ฌ๋ฐค์— ๋งฅ์ฃผ means Coffee in the Middle of the Day and Beer in the Moonlight. This place serves at the coffee shop in the drama and it is located in Chungha Market [์ฒญํ•˜ ์‹œ์žฅ]. Yoon Hye-jin used the restroom of this coffee shop which is owned by Oh Cheon-jae (Jo Han-chul), a former singer in the 1990s.

According to this blog that I have read, it’s like a different place compared to what it used to be. So I think that the interior of the coffee shop is only a set. They only used the exterior of this building to match the interior set of the coffee shop.

Address: 1, Minam-ri Cheongha-myeon, Buk-gu Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
How to get here: You may check Kakaomap for detailed directions on how to get there.

Hong Du-sik House

Who wouldn’t love to visit and see that house of Hong Du-sik. Upon checking this house is actually owned by a family so taking pictures inside is quite not easy as the owner also needs some privacy. So please ask for permission before entering the premises. I won’t write the address but this house is actually near Yoon Hye-jin and Halmoni Gam-ri’s house.

 Yoon Hye-jin’s House

The house where Yoon Hye-jin staying is also a private property which only used for the drama. This is actually on the upper backside of Halmoni Gram-ri’s house.

As I said, these houses are owned by families so better be quiet when you visit the place. If they don’t want you to take pictures, please understand them.

Halmoni Kim Gam-ri’s House

Halmoni’s house had some tape, maybe they’re still using the place for shooting so no one can enter the place. Taking pictures from the outside is possible but please be quiet and be respectful to those who are living in the houses featured in the drama.

Just took this photo over the bakod. Will be back for the other filming locations!
