Never knew that there is a bakery and cafe named Boulanger Maison Bukak in Seongbukgu. Upon checking it’s a Korean drama filming location!
I’ve been searching for cafes here in our district in Seongbuk and I found out that there are so many beautiful cafes to check out. I’ve been introducing Seoul here in my blog since then but due to corona, I wanted to travel safely so I decided to tour around our district.
Seongbukgu has many attractions too like the Korea Furniture Museum, Bukjeong Village, Gilsangsa Temple, Suyeon Sanbang (the filming location of The World of the Married), and historic sites including Uileung and Jeongnung. Upon searching, I also found out that there’s a lot of Korean drama filmed in the district of Seongbuk, especially in the neighborhood of Seongbuk-dong. One of those dramas is Record of Youth and Doom at Your Service which is both tvN Korean dramas. Since I love visiting filming locations, yesterday I visited Boulanger Maison Bukak Bakery and Cafe.
About the Cafe
Boulanger Maison Bukak [๋ธ๋์ ๋ฉ์ข ๋ถ์ ] was actually a Bamvoo Bakery in 2018 but later changed its name. The exterior looks like a normal house in Korea while the interior is similar to Hotel Seine Cafe (the Hotel Del Luna Filming Location).
The unfinished style of the ceiling and walls make it unique. The modern and the classical style of tables and chairs make it special. This cafe is also near Cafe 256 which is the filming location of Lucky Romance.
What to order from the Boulanger Maison Bukak?
They offer different kinds of yummy pieces of bread like egg tarts, croissants, baguettes, and others. They also have coffee, non-coffee drinks, and teas.
Brunch
- Clam Chowder Soup (All Day)
- Bukak Sourdough Sandwich (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Ciabatta Sandwich (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Baguette Sandwich (1:00 PM to 4:00 PM)
Korean Dramas filmed at Boulanger Maison Bukak
Record of Youth
In this scene from episode 5 of Record of Youth, Sa Hye-jun (Park Bo-gum), An Jeong-ha (Park So-dam), Hye-jun’s manager Lee Min-jae (Shin Dong-mi) and Won Hae-hyo (Byeon Woo-seok) decided to eat jjajangmyeon and they were headed in the location of this cafe.
Record of Youth (์ฒญ์ถ๊ธฐ๋ก) is one of the Korean dramas of Park Bo-gum that I have seen. It was aired in 2020 together with Park So-dam and Byeon Woo-seok. A story of three young people who are striving to achieve their dreams in the fashion industry.
Doom at Your Service
In episode 9 of Doom at Your Service, Myul Mang (Seo In-guk) was having a coffee at the outdoor garden of this cafe while narrating his life as a deity.
Doom at Your Service (์ด๋ ๋ ์ฐ๋ฆฌ ์ง ํ๊ด์ผ๋ก ๋ฉธ๋ง์ด ๋ค์ด์๋ค) is about an editor who wishes the world to be doomed and a deity who’s willing to grant her wish.
Final Musing
I arrived at the cafe at 10:30 in the morning, it was late for me to have coffee so I ordered Ballantines Iced Tea and an egg tart. It’s my time to hear the Ballantines Iced tea (๋ฐ๋ ํ์ธ ์์ด์ค ํฐ) and I forgot to ask the staff what is made off. I am not sure if it’s literally Ballantines (which is whisky) or they mean Valentines (based on how it was written in Korean), but anyway it was refreshing. The egg tart was a creamy, sweet, eggy, and buttery flavor taste which so mouth-watering.
I love the interior, it was clean and they have a nice window view outside even if you stay on the first or second floor. It has a 4.28 rating on Naver which means the visitors loved and enjoyed the place. I recommend this cafe whenever you visit Seongbuk-dong but don’t bring a car since the cafe has a parking fee.
I enjoyed taking pictures since the window seats’ view was amazing. Check out my visit to other cafes like YG Entertainment Cafe โ the SameE, and Caferia (Her Private Life).

I like the interior design of this cafe too, it’s very comfortable. I didn’t notice that its exterior is similar to hotel the luna’s filming location until I read this blog. Yes I agree, it looks quite the same.
This is a nice place to visit. I like to try their food while sitting on the couch beside the window.
Anyway, I like your shots.

I can’t say I’m familiar with the show that had its shoot there, but that place is wonderful! I can’t decide whether to stay on the couches by the huge windows of the second floor, or be at the veranda! I guess it will all depend on the weather. ๐

I love how warm and comfortable the interiors of the cafรฉ look. However, I do want to stay in the garden tables more as I always prefer to sit outside. I couldn’t recall a similarly designed cafรฉ here in the Philippines though. Nonetheless, I just miss having coffee in a cafรฉ.

I also love to stay in the garden but I hate summer in Korea that’s why I went inside. If it’s spring or autumn, I will stay outside.

I’m going back cause I love their egg pie. It’s a bit pricey pero hindi tinipid sa itlog at cream knowing na napakamahal ng eggs dito sa Korea.
