Are you living in Seoul and looking for a place to bring your kids during weekends? Check out the Seoul Animation center a fun place for kids.
My son loves to play especially at the kid’s cafe but going there to play every time costs me a lot since 2 hours is around 13,000 won for kids and I need to pay like half price for me. Then we need to eat something for lunch and that will be an additional cost. So I was looking for a solution, although there are free parks here in Korea which you can bring your kids to play, during winter it’s not good to play outside. While surfing through the internet I crossed this animation center which I know my son will really love.
What is the Seoul Animation Center?
Seoul Animation Center (서울애니메이션센터) is the first-ever dedicated animation facility in Korea according to Visit Seoul. It was established in 1999 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and operated by the Seoul Business Agency. This facility was built to promotes South Korean comics and animations which is really fun and not just for kids but for the whole family. It’s a place where kids can enjoy different animation programs and interactive games.
The animation center is located near Myeongdong station and admission is very cheap for 6,000 won for children and 4,000 won for teens and adults. Aside from the cheap entrance fee, the kids can play all day. Isn’t it fun? As a mom, we always need to look for other alternatives to make our kids enjoy without spending too much money.
What to see inside?
Upon entry, you’ll see a cafe on the right side and a waiting lounge on the left side. At the center, you’ll see the front desk for the animation center where you can buy the tickets.
So we bought tickets and went inside because my son was excited to go inside. So here are the animation characters we saw and all of these are created in Korea. Some of these animations have been sold to other countries for English versions like the cute little penguin, Pororo and Friends, and the blue bus, Tayo and Friends.
Pororo and Friends
Pororo is a little Penguin who lives with his friends in a small village in the Porong Porong Forest. The Pororo and Friends Korean animation series started airing in 2003.
In Korea, there are no kids who will never know this animation because it’s a famous animation character in Korea. Aside from watching the animation, there are available toys, clothes, reading books, teaching materials, and even snacks for kids. We’ve been to Pororo Cafe too before in Coex.
Super Wings (출동! 슈퍼윙스)
Super Wings is an action-packed preschools series about a cute, adorable, and fun-loving jetplane. His name is Jett who delivers packages around the world.
Sophie and Ruby (소피루비)
Sophie and Ruby is a South Korean 3D animation magical tv series for girls from 6 to 9 years old. It is created by Sonokong, Choirock Contents Factory, and Pixel Planet Co., Ltd. It was first broadcasted on EBS1, a South Korean Channel on 30, 2016.
Hello Carbot (헬로 카봇) and Dino Mecard (공룡메카드)
If there are animation series for babies and girls, there should be an animation for boys too. My son loves this Hello Carbot which is about a boy who received a Rubix from his grandfather where if he turns the Rubix and says “Hello Carbot” a car that transforms into a robot will come out. The first episode has been aired by KBS1 last August 2, 2014.
The Dino Mecard is an animation series about the kids who collect different kinds of dinosaurs through mecards.
Tayo Bungbung Car
If you have been to Korea, you’ll notice the color of buses is the same as the animation series Tayo The Little Bus. Created by Iconix Entertainment, EBS (a South Korean educational channel), and the Metropolitan Government. The English version was first aired in Disney Junior Asia, New Zealand, and Australia.
This corner will let your kids drive the auto bung bung car of Tayo and his friends for about 1 minute or 2. Always remember that smaller kids are always accompanied by parents.
Animation and Interactive Programs
Stop Motion
At the stop motion playroom, it will let your kids play with mini-figure toys, place them in different positions and take photos of it using the tablet in front. The photos will make a series of movements of the mini-figure toys when played through the video app.
VR Room
VR Playroom is a room for kids above 100cm (sad my son can’t play it even though he really wanted to try). So we better luck next time when he reached the required age and height for this program.
Super Wings Room
If he felt sad at the VR Room here at the Super Wings Rock Climbing Wall was such a fun time for him. He loves outdoor activities including biking, snow sledding, running here and there, and even mountain climbing. Now I can see that my son will be very adventurous when he grows up. On the other side, there’s a big screen where your kids need to stand at the right spot to play the game. Standing and spreading the arms sideward like a jet and move from left to right up or down, like a flying jet. Who finishes first will win.
Slow Live Park
This room is called Slow Live Park which includes a big screen where kids can watch some views of Seoul from a rooftop or play some games.
Other Facilities
One more thing I love in Korea is there’s always a nursing room available wherever you go even in subways. It is very important especially for those mothers who breastfeed their babies. It’s more comfortable for parents to feed their babies and changed the baby in the nursing room.
In addition, drinking water is free and some establishments have free coffees too. Wherever you go in Korea there are available free waters like in restaurants, clinics, hospitals, and even in parks. Don’t worry the restroom is always available so no need to mention it.
How to get here?

Oh, it’s like an indoor playground pala. I thought it’s some sort of centre where kids can learn how to create animation.
myonniyou says
There’s a comic animation center on the 2nd floor. I haven’t been there on the second floor so I might feature it in my next article.

Such a great place for kids. Maraming activities ang pwedeng gawin and ang daming anime character ang makikita kaya super mag eenjoy talaga sila. Kahit po siguro matanda mageenjoy dito.

What a nice place for kids! 🙂 Aside from the physical excercise, I love that they have VR and other immersive activities. Last month I went to an old kids’ playground in Pasay that used to have plenty of customers. Now it doesn’t seem to attract any attention from children and parents these days. Perhaps it is missing more features like the ones you mentioned here.
myonniyou says
Yes, the generations of kids today are active and they always wanted new things and experiences so VR and other immersive activities are really good for them.

It is really a great place for children since there are lot of activities like watching animation, taking photos, playing and more. I love that they offer toys, clothes, reading books, teaching materials, and even snacks that will truly love by kids and although there is a required age and height for VR room for sure they still enjoy the other interactive activities. Hoping we can also visit the Seoul Animation Center someday! ❤️
