Korean Drama ‘Encounter’ Filming Locations

Encounter or 남자친구 was one of the Korean drama that stars Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo that received the highest rating in cable television history.

 Cha Soo-Hyun (Song Hye Kyo) is the daughter of a politician, who has been married to a man whose family runs a number of companies. When his husband had an affair and they got divorced, she became the CEO of a hotel.

 Kim Jin-Hyuk (Park Bo-gum) is an ordinary man whose family runs a fruit shop. He tries to find a regular job and he landed to have a job in a hotel, where the CEO was Cha Soo-Hyun that he first met in Cuba.

 In this blog, I will post some of the filming locations that you can visit around Seoul.

Korean Drama Encounter Filming Locations

Cafe Gaeppul

Cafe Gaeppul one of the cafes in Ihwa Mural Village, seen in Episode 16 of the said drama, where Kim Jin-hyeok proposes to Cha Soo-Hyun.
This location is also located in Ihwa Mural Village and it’s near Cafe Gaeppul and the LeatherCraft Shop. If you remember the blue house featured in the drama “Doctors” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” it’s also near you just need to walk a minute to reach this place.

(HOUSE) Ihwa Mural Village

This art will be seen in Ihwa Mural Village too. This was seen also in Episode 16 of the drama. If you will come here just go straight and follow the road going down. You’ll see the wall art directly with the Avengers’ wall art on the other side of the wall.

Lihuazhongxin [이화중심 — 梨花中心]

Featured in “Encounter” drama, Episode 16 where Kim Jin-hyeok and Cha Soo-Hyun passed by took a photo, and this is beside Cafe Gaeppul also.

손늘림 Leather Craft Shop

Namsan Library

In episode 2, Kim Jin-hyeok (Park Bo Gum) went here to the Namsan Library. Namsan Public Library was established on October 22, 1922, during the Japanese occupation. As of 2017, the library has collected around 501,968 books in total which includes history, art, language, philosophy, religion,  natural sciences, social sciences, technology, science, and literature books.

1) Seoul Station (Seoul Subway Line 1), Exit 9-1 or Exit 4.
From Exit 4: Take Bus No. 405 and get off at Namsan Library Bus Stop.
From Exit 9-1: Take Bus No. 402 and get off at Namsan Library Bus Stop.

2) City Hall Station (Seoul Subway Line 1 & 2), Exit 8.
– From Samsung Main Building, take Bus No. 402 then get off at Namsan Library Bus Stop.

Dongguk University [동국대학교]

Dongguk University was seen in episode 2 of the said drama where Kim Jin-hyeok graduated while he was taking his interview at Dongha Hotel.

Hongnam Bridge [홍남교]

In this episode, Cha Soo-Hyun and Kim Jin-hyeok had a walk together while looking at the arts hanging under the bridge.

Euljiro 1-ga Station [을지로입구역]

In episode 2, Kim Jin-hyeok (Park Bo-gum) got a little drunk and he exits this station in front of Donghwa Hotel.

Morning Pub [모닝]

The Donghwa Hotel’s PR team had a welcome dinner here for Kim Jin-Hyuk as the new employee, he got drunk after the second round.
